Shasta Lake is one of the largest lakes in the western United States with 365 miles of shoreline when at full pool. When the lake hit its lowest point in history back in 1977-78 the lake still retained a 124 mile shoreline. At that time the lake level was down approximately 238 feet from the top. Mt. Shasta is administered by the Shasta-Trinity National Forest headquartered in the city of Redding, California. There is no visitor center on the mountain itself. The local Ranger Station and visitor information is located in the town of Mt. Shasta at 204 West Alma Street. There is no entry station or entry fee, and there are no parking fees ....
